SUMMARY
The Plant Manager is responsible to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing environment which includes managing safety, quality, service, people and cost efficiency to improve plant operations and facility. This position is responsible for building teams, setting and achieving high expectations, managing local manufacturing, safety, quality, and environmental programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Creates a culture that drives and builds a positive, safe, and efficient work environment
Develops and hires team members to aid in culture development; assists with training of new employees and implementing training programs
Provides direction and oversight to production and maintenance teams to ensure optimal production and ensure proper care of facilities and equipment
Manages and complies with all safety policies, procedures and established safety practices, as well as quality assurance and regulatory programs
Maintains effective communication and works collaboratively with all departments including Sales, Dispatch/Transportation and other areas to ensure smooth operations
Provides technical and managerial expertise to solve problems, makes recommendations and oversees implementation of improvements
Responsible for hiring, development and retention of employees including resolution of disciplinary actions and employee issues; takes appropriate action with the assistance of the Human Resources Department
Completes performance reviews and provides feedback to employees; establishes performance development plans and goals
Reviews and approves employee timesheets; monitors overtime, vacation schedules and sick usage; assists with employee scheduling
Maintains all required documentation and records, ensuring compliance and accuracy
Recommends capital improvement projects, equipment replacement and staffing levels
Sets, communicates and sustains high standards for facility housekeeping and the organization
Assists with management of the inventory system ensuring adequate and efficient inventory levels are maintained

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent managerial experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Six (6) plus years in a manufacturing leadership role with increasing responsibility
Strong managerial, analytical and decision-making abilities
Demonstrated effectiveness in fostering a collaborative team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to motivate staff and facilitate change
Familiarity with regulatory requirements
Computer proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, timekeeping, production management and inventory control systems; SAP experience desired
California driver’s license and insurable DMV record
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: frequent standing and/or long period of time on feet, occasional bending, and squatting, kneeling. Occasional lifting, and/or moving over 75 pounds. Occasion grasping, holding and reacting. Constant use of overall vision; frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions. Frequent co-worker contact; occasional working alone. Available to response to emergency calls; work weekend and or holidays. Available to climb ladders/stair up to heights in excess of 100’.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed inside or outside in hot and cool temperature and in a noisy environment. May be exposure to loud noises and steam exhaust, dusty and muddy/slick environment. Adhere to all PPE guideline as established by OSHA and the company.
